Department Wise Damages

DISASTERS:

A close perusal of the history of the disasters reveals that Kurnool district is vulnerable to natural disasters viz, floods due to over flow of Hundri and Tungabhadra Rivers and drought conditions due to failure of monsoons. This district is at times also facing earthquakes here and there occasionally. A plan for disaster management for the district has also been prepared by the District Authorities and sent to the Government.

  23. MUNICIPAL ADMINISTARTION
  24.            The lengthy rainfall meant for the whole season fell in two days causing the rivers swell beyond the perception of the irrigation experts and common man. Two-thirds of the town was under water.

The sanitation team tackled one of the greatest tragedies caused by flood and did the job with superb organizational skills.

Though many expressed deep sympathy for the predicament of the people, one thing was clear that the flood broke many buildings but not the spirit of the people.
